Download Update: January 15, 2008 Edition

This Boogie Bunnies screenshot makes us long for a Wii Pikmin title.
With all three major console kings offering downloadable content on a weekly basis, what better way to report on it than include everything in one convenient post? Here we go for this week, starting with yesterday’s Wii Virtual Console updates.
Wii Virtual Console
After last week’s awesome update of Star Tropics (not to mention the week before’s Bubble Bobble), this week’s offering seems a little lacklustre. Hopefully next week brings a few more gems from the golden age of gaming.
Yesterday saw the release of Pac-Attack from the Super Nintendo. Pac-Man spin-offs tend to pale in comparison to the original title (with the exception of Pac-Man VS and Pac-Man Championship Edition, of course) and this is no exception. It’s a puzzle game, but with Pac-Man in it. More fun can be had eating the decades-old Pac-Man cereal from General Mills. Still, if you absolutely must play Pac-Attack, be prepared to drop 800 Wii Points for it. Remember: we love you and we warned you.
Not to be outdone, Riot Zone, a TurboGrafx 16 staple, offers some side-scrolling beat-’em-up action remnicient of, well, every other side-scrolling beat-’em-up of the era. Except take away a lot of the fun factor. That’s Riot Zone! It’s available right now for 800 Wii Points.
Xbox LIVE Arcade
Microsoft’s definitely going after the casual gamer market with this week’s releases. Boogie Bunnies is a colour-matching puzzle game from the folks at Sierra Online. What’s it all about? Matching up strings of bunnies to trigger funky dances, that’s what. The game has three modes of play: Classic, Arcade, and Endless and can be played solo or in two-player co-op or competitive modes. Boogie Bunnies is available Wednesday for 800 Microsoft Points.
PlayStation Store
Looks like Sony have made up for the slower holiday season with a hefty update last week in which we saw some additional add-on content for Folklore (one of PS3’s best supported games), a demo for the notorious Kane and Lynch, and EA trying to take more of your money through Need For Speed ProStreet. Remember, all the ProStreet cars up for purchase this week can be unlocked free of charge just by playing through the game. But who actually plays games anymore?
Due to the sheer volume of content Sony adds every week, we’re presenting it in list format and highlighting the, er, highlights.
