Episode 1

By Toronto Thumbs Staff - February 9th, 2008

The Toronto Thumbs staff finally got together to record a live and in-person podcast. In this inaugural episode of the Toronto Thumbscast, AKA: Four Guys, Eight Thumbs, or Eight Thumbs To Press You, we discuss the following:

  • Bringing Pop
  • Assassin’s Creed
  • Crysis: Multiplayer
  • Call of Duty 4
  • Portal
  • Rock Band
  • The relevance of Wii

The roundtable discussion took place on Friday, February 9, 2008 and included Shaun Hatton, Adam Russell, and Michael Pugliese. Unfortunately, Jorge Figueiredo was not able to join us, because we forgot to tell him we were recording. To make ourselves feel better about this, we’re just going to say that if we had invited him, he would have been unable to make it due to previous commitments (such as leveling up in Call of Duty 4 multiplayer).

Jorge has therefore recorded his own portion of the podcast, which we’ve placed in the new podcast playlist. You can also listen to one of the many outtakes if you so desire.

Since this is the first podcast any of us have participated in, there are several technical issues that we’ll be ironing out in future episodes. Have a listen and let us know what you think!

Wow, audio quality sounds pretty decent.

Now if only you could digitally enhance my voice to add more “Sexay®”, it’d be perfect.

As it is, Bugsy has the perfect radio voice, while I sound like a little kid high on Sweet Tarts.

Is it even possible to add more “Sexay” to what is already on the verge of Sexay saturation?

Bugsy does have a perfect radio voice. Perhaps next time we should do some face-stretching activities beforehand. But if you think his voice is good, wait till you hear Jorge’s.

I listened to the podcast today during the commute. Not a bad first effort if I do say so myself.

  4. Thanks man. It’s easy when you have a good example of how not to do it.

  5. DUDE! The music you picked is AWESOME!

  6. Excellent job Shaun, and everyone involved. I can’t say I’m not blushing with all this talk about my golden voice. Watch out or you’ll have (another) Diva on your hands.

Definitely a great job on your maiden voyage.

For the next one, i vote for Adam’s voice to be run through a vocoder to sound more like GLaDOS. It don’t get no more “sexay” than that!

Thanks, Kirk. And thanks to the rest of you guys for coming together in person (except you, Jorge, haha). And thanks to Bugsy for the pop. It’s tasty.

  9. Hey!

For the record, I had pop, too!

Mine just had more Rum in it than the rest of you.

Thanks, Richard. The next Toronto Thumbscast is scheduled to be posted on March 9th. We recorded it this weekend and are in the process of producing it.
