THROWDOWN: DJ Hero vs Scratch The Ultimate DJ

By Shaun Hatton - May 8th, 2009

Scratch the Ultimate DJ

Yesterday Jamie posted about the DJ Hero game Activision will be publishing. Well, truthfully Activision didn’t let out a whole bunch of information save for two highly manipulated images of the turntable peripheral (which you can see here).

Today, we’re gifted with an image of the turntable controller from the upcoming game Scratch The Ultimate DJ (shown above) which still looks like a toy but seems to feature more life-like control inputs. Rather than three buttons stock on the turntable, the Scratch peripheral has a free-spinning turntable with buttons and a crossfader off to the side. Sadly this rendering doesn’t show two turntables, which still means its a flawed attempt at emulating a real-life vinyl DJing set-up. But who knows - there may be an option in the final game that allows for two turntables.

Scratch the Ultimate DJ features songs by The Beastie Boys, Mix Master Mike, and Run DMC, which automatically makes it cool apart from this better-than-DJ Hero controller. Oh and did I mention the game is said to have MP3 combatibility? It’s just a rumour at the moment but it would definitely be icing on the cake.
