E3 - Checking in after the Microsoft Conference

Though you might have thought I’d gotten lost in LA, I was indeed at The Galen Center this morning having some serious connectivity issues despite assurances that I wouldn’t. There was so much to talk about, I’ll make this a quick post. The Beatles Rock Band was the perfect beginning to the event, particularly with apperanaces by Yoko Ono, Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney. As usual Microsoft brought the games out in full force, including the long awaited appearance of metal gear. Metal Gear Raiden only had a very short teaser, but was a definite crowd pleaser. Hideo actually crept on to the stage behind Microsoft as the iconic exclamation mark appeared on the screens. Although it was hard to top the excitement of Modern Warfare 2 and watching a playable sequence on snowmobiles.
As soon as I get back to HQ tonight expect to hear a lot more about Splinter Cell: Conviction. I hadn’t expected very much from the title but it was the most incredible mixture of gameplay meets Ubisoft’s art direction I’ve seen this year. We’ll also tear into the details on how Microsoft has integrated every service on earth with Xbox Live and the emergence of Project Natal.

I’d be curious to see(hear) your impressions on how Natal looked live/in motion.
My biggest item of interest: Left4Dead 2, a sequel from Valve in 12 months. Unheard of. To a game that received a fair bit of criticism for being a little “lite” on content. I know the staff isn’t that big into the game, but it seems a very interesting and un-”Valve-like” move.
Announced at the Microsoft Press Conference: A heavy Microsoft Marketing Push ($$$ for Valve) to give the plattform a de-facto exclusive? PC users just hung out to dry?
I’m very interested to see how this one plays out.
And you don’t even look boozed up or laden with fine jewels yet. Are Microsoft/EA getting cheap in their old age? ;) Bathe in some swag while you’re there! You’ll be richer than astronauts!
I’ve got some hands on time this week Adam, so I expect to have plenty to say
