Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman! – Stage 1
By Jamie Love - June 20th, 2009![]()
A precious few titles from NIS America were on hand at the Atlus booth during E3. Among them was Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman! for the PSP, which I was eager to spend some hands on time with. If you’re not familiar with the title, players create the dungeons that an RPG villian seeks refuge in when bands of heroes seek to free the land from tyranny.
Acting as the architect of these dungeons, players carve tunnels underground, unearthing an eco-system of monsters that then act, mutate, and evolve on their own to create unique environments – it’s rather similar to creating a good forum really. The graphics of the game are a pixelated throwback to the 8-bit glory days of my youth and really give the game an added layer of charm that had me in the cheering section early on. With the aim of giving gamers a clarification on how the gameplay functions, NIS has offered up footage from the first stage of the game for your viewing pleasure.

The more like Dungeon Keeper this is the better.
I was pretty disappointed by the demo — we have the japanese version and I felt like I was missing all of the humour/etc., but what’s in the demo seems pretty lame rather than clever. Also the translated title is horrible.
Hopefully they’ll bring the sequel over to, I was hoping that this would _be_ OR2 in English.. since it sort of makes this original version useless/redundant (there’s no reason to play the first one if you have the second one). Sigh.
@raigan
hmm, maybe I need to do some importing. I knew of the series, but haven’t had any hands on time with the Japanese releases.
from the description this sounds like a game to buy a PSP for. I’d buy it for my nephew if I thought he wouldn’t trade it to GameStop for NBA or Need for Speed.
