I think overall it doesn’t matter if you have a zero balance or not. What I find annoying about the MS Points – actually Wii Points too – is that sometimes you are *just* shy of having enough points for something, but you have to buy a whole lot more than what you need at the moment.

This has happened to me a few times, where I’ve been short by about 200 points. But you can’t just buy 200 points. I don’t think this is because I’m doing something wrong – I just am very selective about what I purchase. The systems are set up so that you buy more points than you need, and then when you’re done purchasing what you REALLY want, you are then more inclined to think, “Oh, I have all these points left over. I guess I can get something else!”

Tricky marketing. Anyhow, it’s just an extension of the ideology that all advertising and marketing is is a tool with which to convince people they want shit they don’t need. But this is a topic for another post.

Only 2 instances like that happened to me, and I wanted them.
I recently had 400 MS points, and lucky me Kodu was released for 400 MS points.

All I’m saying is that it’s much easier to balance off MS points then it is to balance off dimes, nickels, and pennies.

I don’t like Sony’s method of real world money because you can never get your balance to zero. With Wii points, and MS points you can juggle the points so as to never have wasted points.
With Sony’s method it’s as if they have my $1.67 that I can’t use on anything. Now just imagine it is only one $1 from each of the 10 million users, but none of us get that money back even if it’s only $1 to each one of us, it’s $10 million in their coffers.

i don’t mind the wii points but i guess it’s mostly because the points match up to real world equivalents. I hear stuff about 360 math you have to do to figure out how much things cost and that would be annoying. I do need to get some stuff .. like the Metal Gear LBP pack and Fat Princess.. and not sure what else. Oh FFVII and Id much rather do it with the PSN cards than credit cards.

Actually MS took great pains to point out that the new download service for 360 games would include real world pricing by country. I think I forgot to mention it.
