Metroid Prime Trilogy

In lieu of a proper holiday gift guide, this year we thought it would be fun to let readers see what’s on our wish lists. So with that statement out of the way, I’m going first:
Earlier this year, Nintendo released Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii and sadly I still do not own it despite having borrowed it for a few weeks and falling in love with it. Sure, it’s three games that I already own, but now Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes have been updated with slick widescreen support and Wii pointer and motion controls.
Playing Metroid Prime again immediately brought back memories of some of my earliest game nights with Adam. After biking for kilometres through rocky and rough terrain, we’d close out the night playing GameCube while polishing off a chicken, pesto, and feta pizza each. In those carefree days of little responsibility it was common for us to be playing Metroid Prime well after the sun came up again – or until the GameCube actually overheated.
Each of the games in the Prime trilogy contains somewhat common themes and environments. While this is part of the allure of the series it is understandable that playing through the three games consecutively (which would take a long time, trust me) could get repetitive. That’s okay, though. This is why we have other games in our libraries, after all.
Getting back into Metroid Prime after all these years also reminded me of how much more I love this series over Microsoft’s Halo franchise as an alien world exploration adventure.
Metroid Prime Trilogy, apart from including three awesome games on one disc, comes in a classy metal case with a small art leaflet. Dear Nintendo: More special editions like this, please.

This title is on my list too. In the past, Shaun gave me Metroid Prime 2 (2 copies, in fact, as one was faulty and they were each different editions).
I ended up getting rid of it (with permission, of course) so that I could get this title instead. Many Metroid Primes on the shelf makes not for a lot of room for other games.
However, one nice compilation in one l’il case? Sweet ass.
