Wish List
The Pink Korg Kaossilator

By Shaun Hatton - December 3rd, 2009

The Pink Korg Kaossilator

I’m following up my previous Wish List post with yet another music-related gizmo. The Korg Kaossilator is a dynamic phrase synthesizer. But what does this even mean? It means it’s capable of making some truly awesome sounds. Don’t take my word for it, however. Just take a look at this gadget orchestra I posted about almost a year ago. That gadget on the far left? It’s a Kaossilator. For a more comprehensive rundown of the kinds of things the device is capable of, look no further than this video.

Happily, this is one wish list item that is literally within my reach. I picked one up today from Moog Audio in Toronto and have had a hard time pulling myself away from it since. I guess I can cross this off my list now, but I also wouldn’t mind having two of them.

I agree! It’s a great more-than-toy. (The Kaossilator Pro, however, came out in February and it’s really something. It makes up for the deficiencies of the regular Kaossilaor for double the price, such as being able to save tons of stuff on SD-card.)

Still, with 2 months’ practice I managed to whip up tunes like this one:

Awesome stuff - funny you mention the Kaossilator PRO - I’ve had some time with it as well and made an album on it - check it out at http://djfinishhim.tumblr.com

Better still, at my new job I was able to make a music video for one of the songs, which I posted here: http://shaunhatton.com/news

    Enjoy!
