Anyone has ever listened to one of our Thumbscasts would know that I am a big fan of snipers. In almost every war-like FPS-type game that allows you to choose a class, I will be hanging back in the bushes or the trees picking off clueless people with abandon thanks to a very powerful rifle.
So what is the first thought that enters my mind when I find out that City Interactive is releasing a game in which the main character is a sniper? Hell yes!
Sniper: Ghost Warrior is an FPS hitting the streets this May for the PC and XBox 360 that should cater to the whims of those of us that practice the religion of the ghillie suit and scope. Sporting a fully realistic ballistics system, breathing management and a bullet cam, Sniper looks to be a great offering for us Lone Wolf-types. These would be good enough reasons for me to want to play this game. However, City Interactive has also thrown an intriguing plot into the mix: you are part of a special ops team that is helping undermanned rebels take back their island from their oppressor.

Sniper boasts the most realistic ballistics system yet, incorporating such factors as weather and distance falloff; targets react according to how they are hit, as dictated by an advanced animation system. Each mission can be completed in different ways thanks to non-linear gameplay and these missions take place in both urban and jungle environments.
I am very intrigued by this game. I’ll be sure to keep my eye on it as the release date gets closer. I’d like to start my summer off with a bang, after all.
