Welcome to some brief snippets of news from the interwebs this week. Our crack team of field operatives only find the best gems for you to read. Okay. Maybe that’s a lie. But some of these are somewhat interesting. If anyone wants us to take a deeper dive, please feel free to let us know!
PSP Turns 5!
Five years ago, the PSP hit the scene. Amidst the complaints about UMD and the strange placement of buttons, many were happy that Sony decided to turn its gaze to the hand-held scene. Congrats go out to Sony. I have yet to grab one of these things. Considering that I sing songs from Patapon quietly to myself, I should probably go out and get one. Or, I should just sneak into Jackson’s place and steal his.
One Million
Ubisoft’s public beta for R.U.S.E., a real-time strategy game, has hit the 1 million mark on Steam for downloads. R.U.S.E. is an interesting concept in RTS; rather than the usual resource gathering/Zerg Rush song-and-dance, the game employs a system involving deception. The name of the game is how well you can fool your opponents. I’m assuming this is the “ketchup bandit” of games. Keep this on your radar, especially if you like videos of guys with thick accents explaining how to swindle enemies out of their territory.
Ruse is due to arrive in June of this year. Or is it?

Go Big or Go Home
Microsoft has release a 250 GB Hard Drive, which will allow Xbox 360 owners some breathing room for whatever they want to store on it. Estimated street price in Canuckle-land is about $160 CAD. A bit pricey, perhaps, but it is a proprietary device, so you know it will work with your beloved console.
PSN Sale
No, the PSN is not for sale. However, from March 25 through June 1 there will be weekly promotions; low, low prices for PS3 and PSP games. Keep your eyes open on the Playstation Blog. I think I’m going to go grab a copy of Everyday Shooter right now!

I’ve been thinking about picking up a PSP, actually, but I’m not sure about its games, still, even five years after the fact. I guess you could say I still have a backlog of DS games, too, haha.
R.U.S.E. has been an interesting education in WW2 powerhouses. For example, Italy doesn’t suck. Go figure.
