Splinter Cell: Conviction Challenge
By Jorge Figueiredo - April 8th, 2010
Some video games can sell themselves. You just mention the name of a popular franchise, and people will reach into their wallets and hand you money. Seriously, just wave a piece of paper that says Grand Theft Auto 8 on it and Dave will hand you all of his money, grab that paper, and make sweet, sweet love to it.
Once in a while, though, software companies hold some pretty cool events to promote their games.Jesse pointed out to us that Ubisoft, Microsoft Canada, and Gamestop Canada held one such event recently for Splinter Cell: Conviction. It was a challenge that took place on the streets in Downtown Hogtown. Contestants were put into Sam Fisher’s boots for a day; the winning team won a trip to tour Ubisoft Montreal.
Not too shabby.
More game companies should do this; it’s a great idea and is great press. Just think of how much better games like BMX XXX and Dead or Alive: Why Do We Even Pretend It’s About Fighting would go over!
