FanExpo 2010
Section A – Arrival and Elbow Rubbing

When Kirk, Mike, and I decided to attend FanExpo Canada 2010, we were not sure what we were letting ourselves in for; there has been so much said about the previous events that would be cause for severe intimidation (to less stalwart individuals, of course). Seriously, being able to talk directly to some of one’s favourite celebrities (after possibly lining up for a long time) would be a squeee-issuing prospect. Primarily, we decided to go to support our good friend Shaun Hatton, who is one of the correspondents from The Electric Playground; as the weeks went by since we registered, though, we had lined up a few interviews and will deliver some interesting tidbits to you all. Shaun’s panel was on the Saturday, so that was the day that we registered for; and we planned to be there for the long haul.
Arrival
I arrived first out of our triumvirate, chatting up some of the other media-types that were in attendance; those who had gone to the Friday sessions commented on how busy it was, and were twitchy thinking about how many more there were going to be on the Saturday. Shortly before registration opened, Kirk arrived, as did Richard, Jen and Don from GameNorth; not too long after, we were let in. We were lucky enough to be there so early, allowing us to see the FanExpo floor before the crowds showed up.

Seriously, this was the calm before the storm.
We surveyed the area and were aghast at the size; it was big. Other than a few interviews, we hadn’t formulated a plan of attack for the rest of the day; so we did what any game-savvy folks would do: we headed towards the Recognizer from Tron. This seemed to be a good plan, for as we approached we saw none other than our moustachio’d friend in the flesh. Shaun seemed to be a bit busy, but indicated that Victor Lucas and Miri Jedeikin from EP were at the G4 booth, and were relatively free.
Elbow Rubbing
We headed over – taking a rather meandering route past the original Batmobile – and ended up at the G4 booth. Miri looked pretty deep in reading; we said a quick hello to her and chatted with Victor for a long time about a wide range of topics. We took a few photos and told him that we would see him later at the panel. Victor and his crew are a fantastic bunch, all generous with their time and really fun. Those that we met were fantastic; those that we didn’t were probably fantastic. They do good work, so watch their show!

With such an awesome start to the day, how could we not enjoy it? Meeting the folks from EP set the tone for what was to be a great day. We will be writing about it for the next few days, so please come back every day. There are a few more photos than the X’10 posts from last week, so we will be breaking up the galleries, making them more post-specific. You should also check out some of our friends’ blogs (Like Rich/Don/Jenn from GameNorth, Zack Cooper from Got Game, and Satori from Geekscape) for more coverage; all of these peeps were there, and in fine form!
Enjoy!

How about some love for Got Game?
Great meeting up with you and your crew. Had a BLAST at Fan Expo, myself.
Spent a good chunk of time on art and shirts.
…next year I’m coming with more money (and more time!)
Crap on a crap cracker.
Didn’t mean to snub you, dude.
I have added you and my other friend that I apparently ignored.
It was so overwhelming.
In any case, our love for you is implicit.
