Cool Beans!
Disney Infinity 2.0?

By Jorge Figueiredo - April 10th, 2014

If you haven’t seen this trailer yet, I’d be very surprised. For those of you who have been sitting on the fence, wondering whether or not you should purchase Disney Infinity, this short clip may change your mind. For those of you who now seem to have drawers full of duplicate Boosters, this will probably call for a second mortgage on your place of residence. Take a look, and I’ll catch up to you after the jump.

So yeah. That happened!

Not only does it appear that the Marvel Universe is coming to Infinity – it also looks like Infinity is evolving to version 2.0! What does this even mean? Well, I have not really heard anything official, so what I have to say is based on pure speculation.

As I predicted back when I reviewed Infinity last year, Marvel heroes seem to be in the queue, which is very exciting (at the very least, a Captain America figure seems to be in the works, if one can count that trailer as a big hint). In terms of “Infinity 2.0″, I recall a conversation that I had with some of the devs about whether or not there would be a way to play Disney Infinity on the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One – and while they never said exactly how it would happen, they didn’t deny that it was a possibility. In fact, they said that if they did release it for next-next gen consoles, they would want to make sure that it looked better, and that it was compatible with the previous version (presumably in terms of the figures and the Toy Box worlds that users have created).

And really, why wouldn’t it be? After all, you can upload your creations to the cloud and download them to your PC or iPad, to play on the free Infinity client for those respective platforms. We’ll be sure to forward on anything that we can dig up on this exciting development!
