Worth iTrying – iOS Titles You Might Like

By Jorge Figueiredo - August 26th, 2011

Zorro looks a bit like Ezio in this picture.

Up for perusal today are two iOS titles that are quite different from one another with the exception of one word: “awesome” (well, I suppose “adventure” would also be another common word). The first game is about one of the original masked men in black while the other is a classic WWII-shooter/flight sim that is enjoying a comeback.

Here are two games for iOS that our readers might like. One is an old-school shooter while the other is an interesting take on dungeon crawling (which is on the cusp of being released). In this article I will take a closer look at each of these great little gems that will surely inspire you to hug your iOS device.

Mini Cafe, an iOS game from SGN (bought by MindJolt earlier this year), presents you with the challenge of running a restaurant. If you are the ambitious sort, you can try and expand your humble eatery into something a little more grand. This iOS-based restaurant sim is as fun as it is addictive.

Army of Darkness: Defense

I have never seen Sam Raimi’s Army Of Darkness (I seriously have no idea why); when the Army Of Darkness: Defence iOS game came out, I was mildly curious how it would play for someone whose familiarity with Bruce Campbell is based mostly on the sleeper hit Burn Notice.

The Day the Music Stopped

That being said, I am no iNazi; once in a while an app comes along that’s perfect for kids and strikes that perfect balance between entertainment and learning. The Day the Music Stopped is one such app.

A while ago, we reviewed Toytek’s iOS game for the thinking person called The Ultimate Alphabet. Since then Toytek has put out one of the most suggestive-sounding titles that I have ever seen: Filth Fair.

It’s All About the Muscles

At Toronto Thumbs, indie developers are held in very high regard. These are the folks that lay it all on the table and take multiple stab wounds just to produce the games that they love. Rocket 5 Studios is no exception. This small-as-you-can-get development house has some wicked little titles to their name.

The latest one, entitled XS Force, looks to be an awesome diversion from reality. Available for the iOS this summer, XS Force is an arcade-style shoot-em-up with some shout-outs to some familiar movie characters that you know and love. The website reveals:guns and possibly ninjas. What more can a gamer ask for? Check out the trailer and browse through their site!
