Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood – The Da Vinci Disappearance DLC

By Jorge Figueiredo - March 24th, 2011

acbdd-1

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood was a fantastic continuation of the adventures of Ezio Auditore. Both stunning in production and engrossing in plot, the game brought the master Assassin to Rome, where he worked to overthrow the Borgia clan. Since its release, AC:B players have been given gifts in the form of free DLC. So what makes The Da Vinci Files worthy of the $10 (800 XBL Points) price tag? Let’s take a look under the hood, shall we?

Review
Torchlight for Xbox 360

By Jayson Young - March 17th, 2011

xtl-1

Torchlight asks you one question: how much do you like cake? It hopes you will respond by saying, ‘’As long as I live, I never want to stop being force-fed sweet delicious cake.’’

Me? I love the stuff; especially chocolate (and certainly as the cap to a healthy and delicious meal). A good dessert should feel like a reward: a bit of indulgence to delight the palette after giving your body what it needs for sustenance. There is nothing essential about a chocolate cake save for the sheer pleasure derived from eating it.

Fable III

By Toronto Thumbs Staff - November 12th, 2010

f3-1

Fable III, by Lionhead Studios, is an action-adventure-sandbox-life-simulating-kitchen-sink game that builds on the story of the previous two iterations. Two of our staff members (Dana Russo and Mike Croft) have played this game, and are itching to share their thoughts with you. Without further ado…

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2

By Jorge Figueiredo - November 2nd, 2010

nsuns2-1

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm was an incredible game that brought you as close to the popular anime series as you could possibly be; at least, that was the case before the sequel came out. Cyberconnect2 has done more than I could have hoped with the sequel, and created an amazing follow-up to the first title – ans on multiple platforms to boot!

X’10
Chapter 6 – Can You Play Me Now?

By Jorge Figueiredo - August 24th, 2010

WP7-1

In a land dominated by two different mobile OS powerhouses with fruity sounding tie-ins, it’s hard to imagine anyone breaking the mold. Microsoft’s previous portable OS’s have not really rocked any boats; they are reliable, not really too flashy, and honestly overshadowed fairly easily by iOS and RIM’s proprietary OS. However, Microsoft may have just evened the playing field with their new mobile OS. Intrigued?  So was I, so I made sure to snag a demo when I was at X’10.

X’10
Chapter 1 – The Rockening

By Jorge Figueiredo - August 19th, 2010

RB3-1

The first thing I noticed about X’10 was that it was much bigger than X’09 had been; a larger area was occupied by HDTVs (we’re talking multiple floors here) and the air was awash in the green light that I associate with the Xbox 360′s colour scheme. It was like being a kid in a candy factory; the only problem I was having was figuring out where I was going to go first. A nice lady from MTV Games entered the picture and led myself (as well as Rich and Don from GameNorth) to the Rock Band 3 booth.

Good Things
Mission 4 Miracles

By Jorge Figueiredo - June 7th, 2010

M4M

Some folks tend to look at gaming as a hobby that doesn’t really give anything back to the world other than carpal tunnel syndrome and photophobia. However, every once in a while someone shows that gamers are more than meets the eye. Last week, Microsoft introduced a really great initiative called Mission 4 Miracles: Xbox Live gamers can donate LIVE points to help raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network.

It’s a fantastic idea; gamers get to interact with participating celebrities; 14 participating hospitals get the proceeds; it’s win-win!

Hello, intrepid readers! Long time no talk!

There has been a flurry of Galaxy-ing in my house lately and the mini-game-like levels of both Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel have overwhelmed me.
