TORONTO THUMBS PODCAST
Season 2, Episode 4

By Shaun Hatton - May 31st, 2009

Looks like we’re banging out the podcasts at a rate of two per month, and they’re dropping on the same weekend. In the future we’ll try to space these out a little more, but in the meantime enjoy our discussion on Jarate being real, Resident Evil 5, E3 predictions, Super Mario World, and more.

E3 2009 Coverage
Our Pre-E3 Podcast

By Shaun Hatton - May 30th, 2009

Last night, Jamie and I decided to record an impromptu podcast to discuss E3 hype and expectations. It’s a bit shorter than our sessions usually go, but we managed to share some thoughts on some of the major companies we’re expecting to have big showings. Originally this was going to be a part of a larger podcast with segments featuring both Adam and Jorge, but for the sake of timeliness we’ve published this as-is. Look for Episode 4 of our Podcast tomorrow.

TORONTO THUMBS PODCAST
Season 2 Premiere Double Episode

By Toronto Thumbs Staff - April 19th, 2009

Toronto Thumbs Podcast

It has been far too long since our last podcast, and with our season premiere we’ve decided to treat you to a two-parter in which Jorge, Adam, and Shaun got together to talk about videogames. The podcasts were recorded in two parts. During the break between sessions, Jorge and Shaun started drinking Jack Daniels right out of the bottle. This livened things up for the second half, which we almost cut out entirely.

Topics discussed in this two-parter include (but are not limited to) Street Fighter IV, arcades, Ghostbusters, Rhythm Heaven, Pokemon Platinum, Team Fortress 2, April Fool’s, and Wii MotionPlus.

If you’ve already subscribed to our podcast feed, the episodes should have already shown up in whatever program you’ve subscribed in. If you don’t know what that means, or if you’d rather listen over the web, we’ve created this podcast page which will be home to all episodes of Season 2. You can listen to us jabber about games there, and add your feedback in the comment form provided. Episode 1 features music by Toronto DJ Mr. Furious, while Episode 2′s intro is from DJ Finish Him.

TORONTO THUMBSCAST
Episode 5A: The Star Wars Episode

By Toronto Thumbs Staff - June 29th, 2008

After being taken over and held hostage by the entity known as “The Manic Gamer,” the Toronto Thumbs staff have been able to regain control of the recording studio just long enough to record a very, very lengthy Thumbscast. The output was so long, in fact, that we’ve decided to serialize Episode Five into several parts, broken down by subject. That, and The Manic Gamer has once again taken over the studio.

Tonight, we present to you The Star Wars Episode. In this Thumbscast, Jamie Love joins Adam Russell and Shaun Hatton to discuss their love/hate/love for Star Wars games while also taking time to discuss EA, Team Ninja, and George Lucas.

Please to enjoy:

Episode 4: The Manic Gamer: Week 1

By The Manic Gamer - June 19th, 2008

Editor’s note: Do not adjust your screens. The Manic Gamer has returned from his hiatus, held the Toronto Thumbs staff at Zapper-point, and forced us into a long-term contract involving batteries, candy, and videos like this.

TORONTO THUMBSCAST
Episode 3

By Toronto Thumbs Staff - May 12th, 2008

thumbscastheader.jpg

If you thought the launch of WiiWare took long enough, you might have forgotten that here at Toronto Thumbs we do this thing called a Thumbscast. What is it? It’s where you get to hear us talk about video games for a good chunk of time. Sometimes we make jokes! In this third instalment of the series, Jorge and Shaun talk about a variety of video games while occasionally making fun of Adam, who was absent.

This Thumbscast was going to be scrapped entirely, but due to popular demand (one of you asked where the hell it was), we are uploading it here for your amusement. Only Shaun and Jorge were able to get together for this episode, and despite there only being two participants they managed to go on and on about all sorts of things. Some of it ended up on the cutting room floor.

That all said, please enjoy.

TORONTO THUMBSCAST
Episode 2

By Toronto Thumbs Staff - March 9th, 2008

This month, Adam Russell, Jorge Figueiredo, and Shaun Hatton got together in the studio to talk about the video games they’ve been enjoying. As the recording session was getting underway, Jorge accidentally spilled his glass of Fanta all over a table, soaking his copy of Mystery Men on DVD as well as his copy of The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction for GameCube. While everyone tried to clean up the mess, Adam decided the situation was under control and decided to provide colour commentary on everything as it happened instead.

We’ve included some of that in the blooper reel, as well as Shaun awesomely misrepresenting himself as the site’s “Editor-in-Cheese.” He probably was just thinking of Adam’s jokes. Please note that although most of the content in the blooper reel is family-friendly, there are a bunch of F-bombs towards the end.

Special thanks to both Adam McIntyre and The Meligrove Band for letting us use some of their awesome music.

TORONTO THUMBSCAST
Episode 1

By Toronto Thumbs Staff - February 9th, 2008

The Toronto Thumbs staff finally got together to record a live and in-person podcast. In this inaugural episode of the Toronto Thumbscast, AKA: Four Guys, Eight Thumbs, or Eight Thumbs To Press You, we discuss the following:

  • Bringing Pop
  • Assassin’s Creed
  • Crysis: Multiplayer
  • Call of Duty 4
  • Portal
  • Rock Band
  • The relevance of Wii

The roundtable discussion took place on Friday, February 9, 2008 and included Shaun Hatton, Adam Russell, and Michael Pugliese. Unfortunately, Jorge Figueiredo was not able to join us, because we forgot to tell him we were recording. To make ourselves feel better about this, we’re just going to say that if we had invited him, he would have been unable to make it due to previous commitments (such as leveling up in Call of Duty 4 multiplayer).

Jorge has therefore recorded his own portion of the podcast, which we’ve placed in the new podcast playlist. You can also listen to one of the many outtakes if you so desire.

Since this is the first podcast any of us have participated in, there are several technical issues that we’ll be ironing out in future episodes. Have a listen and let us know what you think!
