We continue on our journey through memory lane of the awesomeness that was Gamercamp. The second floor of Hotel Ocho was like walking into a toy store. There were so many interesting games that it was hard to choose where to spend my time. The two games that are listed after the jump are both interesting as they present new twists to old concepts.

Gamercamp has come and gone, but the memories live on. Some of the Official Selections that I played were unfinished – but man, I wish they were in production. There is nothing like being able to participate in the formation of a game by playing it and providing helpful feedback. It feels good to help developers make their games even more awesome than they already are.

Recently, local devs were given the challenge to create games (in a short amount of time) based on the ROM’s Ancient Culture collection for the Rom Game Jam. I was disappointed that I missed out on that Jam. Luckily, Gamercamp had some of these games available to play on the second floor of Hotel Ocho. The Rom Game Jam games saw a fair bit of traffic, which is really impressive considering that people of all ages were stopping by to play them. And why not? They are accessible and fun!

It was a gloomy day yesterday in Downtown Toronto; but Hotel Ocho was hopping thanks to a jazzed crowd at Gamercamp. The entire four-storey building was the venue for this annual festival all about games and gaming. Each floor had some amazing things to offer, giving everyone something to enjoy, regardless of their gaming stripe.

I visited Gamercamp for a part of the afternoon and enjoyed myself immensely. If you have never been (or if you only managed to checkout a part of it), grab yourself a cup of. Cocoa and check out our series on this year’s festivities.
